This logo design project had me getting in touch with my feminine side! After discussing the goals of the company with owner, Laura Wheelock, we decided the Cool Wicking PJ’s logo design needed to appeal to her main target market, women suffering from night sweats, a common occurrence during menopause. We wanted to communicate comfort, woman, sleep (sleeping until morning), coolness, and pajamas.

GAP Baseball League needs to attract ball players above the age of 28 for his for-fun Great American Pastime Baseball League. GAPBL decided to have an advertisement designed to be printed in the Greenville News. The ad is meant to catch the eye and draw people to call GAP Baseball or visit their website.

GAP Baseball Advertisement Design

GAP Baseball League is a 28 and older for-fun baseball league in Greenville SC. Visit their website for more information on his upcoming spring season www.gapbaseball.com.

Why not use the publication’s design staff?

Jack from GAP Baseball decided to use an outside designer (me) for his small ad he is placing in the Greenville News. Most magazines and newspapers will design your ad for free or cheap, which may sound great. The only problem is many of these publications are under a great deal of pressure from deadlines and can not give your design the time needed to think up an effective ad. This is a generalization, but nevertheless usually a true one. Some publications have great designers on staff that create great ads. Jay Conrad Levinson, author of Guerrilla Marketing, advises small business owners to hire a graphic designer or go to the publication with your specific layout idea already on your mind in order to get an effective ad design.

Take a page from large retailers and offer your customers gift certificates! Gift Certificates work great around the holidays for those hard to buy people and you can take advantage of it. The best part is any business can create them using Microsoft Publisher or any word processor! Microsoft has quite a few templates on their site-just search “gift certificates”.

A checklist of things to include on your business’ gift certificate design:

Make it simple and professional, if you are printing it out and designing it.

Make sure the design has the essentials. TO, FROM, AMOUNT, and AUTHORIZED BY. Always include all of your business information and website as with any marketing piece! The recipient might not know where your store is!

Print it on heavy weight matte or paper so your customer can easily write on it. The weight of paper is for durability and professionalism. The recipient might not redeem the certificate for months so you want it to last.

You can easily fit 3 certificates per page. A good idea is to make it the size of a dollar bill so it can easily fit in a wallet.

Security might not be an issue, if you plan on selling 10 to 20 certificates. If you plan on selling hundreds, you might want to put a type of watermark so it is difficult to photocopy (see example below).

Love of Fitness Gift Certificate Design

Love of Fitness has had good success with their personal training gift certificates seen above. If you are interested in a personal training certificate, visit her website and contact her for more information.
One of my great clients, Cabinets and Tops needed an advertisement for the Greenville News. They designed a kitchen for an upscale builder in Tuscany Falls in Greenville, SC. I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful kitchen. For the ad layout, I wanted to create an eye catching design to match the dramatic photography. I played off of a fairytale story theme to add interest.

Cabinets and tops ad Design by Photo Graphics - Ran in the Greenville News

This ad design was ran earlier this month (November) in the Greenville News. I wanted to deliver a simple message that Cabinets and Tops satisfies all of their customers. What better way than to add a testimonial to the ad! The headline combined with the white space draws viewers in to read more.

Child of the king is a non-profit company with the goal of raising awareness and aiding in the adoption process for families that want to adopt but might not have the resources. Three of my siblings have adopted and so I am well aware of the high cost of adoption. When I got the call to design the logo and marketing materials for Child of the King, I couldn’t say no.

I have created all of their marketing materials including: logo design, website design, t-shirt designs, and event marketing materials. Check out some of the design below and be sure and visit their website www.childofthekingfund.org. They have an upcoming event on NOV 9th. If you are interested in adoption or just want to support a great cause, check their website for more details.

I created this graphic awhile back to illustrate the screen printing process and help my customers understand the process. Screen printing is one of the simplest printing process, but it is probably the one that requires the most imagination to get to the end result.

I get a few calls a month asking to do one t-shirt with a photo on it. While I would like to help these customers out, it takes a minimum of 4 colors to reproduce an image which means 4 separate screens. Most screen printers charge $15 a screen, making just the set up for the shirt $60. A much more economical method to print just one shirt is direct to garment inkjet printers. These are much like your home inkjet printers but on a larger scale. Although there aren’t any printers in the Greenville SC area yet, you can buy one shirt online for around $20 (from instashirt.com).

For orders over 24 t-shirts, we can help you out!
